Operations Coordinator: Footage/Image Library

The Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) is currently seeking a full-time Footage/Image Library Coordinator to oversee management, growth and usage of our historic archive and library of photos and footage of Dr. Jane Goodall, the chimpanzees of Gombe National Park, and the ongoing worldwide work of the Jane Goodall Institute.


The successful candidate must demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize work load. He/she must communicate effectively and professionally in written and oral formats. Should be an organized, energized detail oriented self-starter who is good with people but just as good with computers. Ideally has experience editing footage using either Final Cut or Avid and understands different video formats, codes, etc. Basic Photoshop still image editing skills are a plus.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Minimum three years relevant work experience; prior personnel and project management experience a plus
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to use avid editing system
  • Good understanding of video codecs, digital formats etc.
  • Experience with video related software and players (Quicktime, Windows Media Player, Flash, etc).
  • Working knowledge of digital image formats
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency on PC and Mac
  • Basic Photoshop image editing skills
  • Strong interest in viewing and editing video
  • Demonstrated leadership with the ability to multi-task and set priorities
  • High level of competency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint


Reporting to the JGI Vice President of Marketing, the successful candidate will manage all video and image archive related operations. This includes:


  • Serving as liaison to all production companies and vendors. May include television production companies, animation companies, post production houses, dub facilities, editors, producers, graphic artists, book and magazine publishers, etc.
  • Help recruit and manage a team of volunteers who support the archive initiative with logging, simple editing, and other video related work.
  • Working with VP Marketing to hire videographers and photographers for events and Dr. Goodall’s personal appearance tour, as needed. Harvest all video and photos from resulting shoots
  • Editing short video clips using JGI’s content management software for the JGI website and other online initiatives. This person will be trained how to use the software, including editing, logging, organizing etc.
  • Updating and organizing the video and image databases and digitizing all media that arrives in house
  • Having the technical expertise and understanding to use Avid and the ability to import EDL’s, to learn if necessary how to write voice over narration and add music to complete short videos. These videos will be used in- house for promotional and educational purposes, as well as online and in other multimedia platforms.
  • Administering licensing requests and contracts relating to the footage and image library, and file all records and documents relating to library business.
  • Assisting in purchasing equipment
  • Fulfill requests for photos from JGI offices worldwide.

Vice President, Youth Programs

The Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) is currently seeking a full-time Vice President of Youth Programs to lead the Institute's youth initiatives. 

JGI works to protect Great Apes and their habitats by combining conservation, research and education with assistance to local communities.  Its youth programs are designed to build a worldwide network of young people who are taking action to care for the environment, animals and human communities. 

The Vice President of Youth Programs will be responsible for the development and growth of the Institute's Roots & Shoots program.  Roots & Shoots engages young people in projects in their local communities that help people, animals and the environment, and connects them with similarly engaged young people worldwide.   The VP Youth Programs will also oversee the implementation of the Jane Goodall Global Youth Summit, an annual gathering of committed young people from many countries.  With a US staff of 20, and a budget of $2.3 million, JGI's youth programs link groups in more than 90 countries, and are poised to continue their rapid expansion.
 
The ideal candidate will have:

Foundation Relations, Manager

Responsibilities:

  • To oversee all foundation funding for JGI
  • To work closely with JGI's mission programs to prospect, solicit, author, secure, track, and report on foundation grants.  This includes:
    • Working with programs to identify key prospects and craft winning proposals
    • Significant research, grant writing and submission responsibilities
    • Ensuring all compliance and reporting requirements for foundation funding are met
  • To manage current foundation funding portfolio and develop new foundation revenue streams with a focus on Roots & Shoots (JGI's youth environmental program) and unrestricted funding.
  • To develop and steward critical foundation relationships with high-level contacts. 
  • To work cross-divisionally to implement systems and standards for funding requests.
  • To act as a central point-person for all foundation funding for JGI and as clearinghouse for all grant activity and records; to maintain complete foundation files for organization.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5 years' experience in foundation funding for a non-profit organization
  • Proven track record in successful grant writing
  • Strong interpersonal communication and PC skills essential
