Mission
With our youth programs we seek to foster respect and compassion for all living things, to promote understanding of all cultures and beliefs and to inspire each individual to take action to make the world a better place for people, animals and the environment.

Our Goals are Global

• To help young people around the world develop self-respect, confidence in themselves and hope for the future
• To implement positive change through active learning about, caring for and interacting with the environment
• To enhance understanding among individuals of different cultures, ethnic groups, religions, socio-economic levels and nations through our global communications network

Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots: Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots is the global environmental and humanitarian youth program of the Jane Goodall Institute. The program not only motivates young people to learn about pertinent issues facing our communities, but helps them design, lead and implement their own projects as a means of solving them. Whether you are passionate about polar bears, serious about speaking out or interested in fighting poverty, Roots & Shoots has a place for you. Get involved and join the global Roots & Shoots network!

Roots & Shoots also partners with numerous organizations and businesses who share our desire to make the world a better place. Currently, we are teaming with Costa Farms, the Deirdre Imus Environmental Center for Pediatric Oncology® , Western Connecticut State University, Bramble Park Zoo and the Pearson Foundation, Tree People, among others, on projects that empower youth to make a difference every day.
